Playbill

This is a commission piece I recently finished. I wasn’t given a whole lot to go on, it was a birthday gift for the daughter of a woman I work with. I know that she loves the theater, she’s acted and directed many fantastic plays over the years, she teaches signing and dance, and she has been a wonderfully portrayed Marilyn Monroe impersonator.

Given these facts, I set out to find sheet music from some of the plays that she was in or directed. I thought it would be a fun touch to print some lines of the sheet music, especially with some of the lines of her characters. I painted over them with watercolors, then mog-podged them into the canvas. Then, I thought a few Marilyn Monroe quotes would work, and great quotes they are!

“A wise girl knows her limits, a smart girl knows that she has none”

“We are all stars but we must learn how to shine”

I was just informed that the Actress loves her new art work! In fact, she will be coming to my show on August 17th to meet me! Oh yeah, details on the upcoming show will be posted next!
