I’ve been doing a lot of collages lately, I call this one “Sparks of Joy” because it is very pleasant to me, light, happy and carefree! I’m sure we could all use a little more of that in our lives.
This piece started with an abstract water painting, then I added some magazine images, real pressed flowers and leaves, some strategically placed pieces of other paintings, and of course I had to splatter it with some acrylic paint, I’m all about splatter!
I am in the process of adding prints (including this one) for sale on my Etsy shop, it’s taking some time to gather info and photos, please check in later this week to see what is new!
Maybe you can help me with something. I’m trying to decide if I should make my own prints at home, or outsource them and where? I am limited to only 8.5″ x 11″ and would like to offer other sizes. What advice do you have for me?
Well done 👍👍

Ps- yes, would make a fabulous print, esp on heavy stock or even textured paper I think. Here’s my Google search result for printers in San Diego: https://www.expertise.com/ca/san-diego/print-shops. Me, I used to hunger for my own printer. Now, nah. If I ever have boom demand 😊 “then” I’ll invest in a good production printer, relatively lg format, like to 12×18 or 18×24. Meanwhile, and I’m sure there’s tons of other folks w/good ideas/suggestions: I’d call these “top” printers 😊 and ask them if they can print to (give or take) 100lb cover stock sized to 12×18 for under $2 bucks. Those that say yes, send them a 300dpi pdf and see what they can do. Then, can they tweak it? Saturate a bit more? Increase the black point? Pull back the black to release the shadows, etc. Ask them if they print for other local artists / photographers. And go from there!

Yes, experiment it’s a lot to explore! 😊 Unless u “know” you’ve got a runaway print hit, best to make small quantities, can always give some away at shows for buyers of your art 😊

Very cool but I think we should discuss the elephant in the room: Post the link to your Etsy shop on EVERY post and link the image to the shop. Kids today, why I oughta…

Love this! How do you add the pictures? What kind of glue do you use?

I’m glad you like it, Jason! Thanks for asking, I usually use Mod Podge to adhere my collages. They make a matte and a glossy version, I use both depending on the style and materials.
