I was recently inspired by one of Teagan Ríordáin Geneviene’s books, “Real Steampunkery Tech” (available on Amazon) to delve into the imagery of the steampunk movement. You might recall I created this steampunk collage on canvas, but I couldn’t stop, I just love the mood the images conjure up!
I also have a weird fascination with all things alchemy, botany, and nautical related, so you might notice this piece also includes a little bit of those!
You can find “Steamed Fish with Ferns” prints and home decor in my Pixels shop. 😊
It is beautifully Steampunkery. I have her book. It’s fascinating. Have you ever seen the movie “City Of ost Children”? It’s French and very steampunk.

Thanks Tim! No, I haven’t seen that movie, but I am going to look it up now! 😉

Many thanks about the book, Tim. I looked at the movie trailer. It seems familiar and would definitely be worth watching again. Hugs.

Your version of steampunk and other ideas look great. I like the ferns.
Is this watercolor Tiffany?

Thank you! Actually, I don’t think I used any watercolor in this one, the background is mostly gouache and watered down acrylic. I also used a soft gel gloss to transfer some images from paper, I hadn’t used that technique in years!

Oh. Neat. Yeah…watered down acrylics go a long way.
Someday I’ll try the gel pens.

That sounds interesting. I haven’t done anything with art in so many years, but I didn’t know about that technique. Cool.

just the background colors alone mesmerize me, Tiffany! 😊❤️

Thanks Adan, that’s where it all starts, I agree, very soothing colors! 💙

I love those colors, and they’re perfect for steampunk — since it tends to use a good deal of copper in the ascetic, and aged copper can get that color. 🙂

Indeed. I think I’ll hang around in this undersea scene rather than the real world. 🙂
