Adventures in Alcohol

These are some more of results of my alcohol ink on ceramic tile experiments.

I have started adding some of these images to my FAA site so prints and home decor can be found here, check back often as I will be adding more!

    1. It’s so simple, Matt, it’s all about the ceramic surface! I spray a little 91% rubbing alcohol, then drop little dots of alcohol ink, and play until I like it! After they dried, I sprayed them with Liquidex spray varnish, and they are holding up well as coasters!

  1. YES!!! Fantastic! Marvelous colors! And I love how you let them move around on their own!! (Did you blow any of them around with a straw? I like doing that with acrylic ink.) ::applause::

    1. Thank you, Robin!!! I just ordered some more alcohol inks in new colors, the possibilities are endless!!! Yeah, I have blown and tilted, wiped off, redone, added, and diluted, the best part is that you can just spray with rubbing alcohol and wipe off and start all over if you want, it’s brilliant!!! 😉

        1. I haven’t even noticed any fumes, maybe I’m already damaged?😂 But, really, you are only using a tiny amount at a time, so fumes haven’t been an issue at all. The most important thing is having the right surface to play on, ceramic is awesome!

    1. Right?$ Another option to try, coat any surface (heavy paper, wood, canvas, etc.) with a coat of gel gloss, (I like Golden) let it dry, and you have a decent platform to play with liquid paint and alcohol inks! 😉
