I love doing this style of abstract painting, it helps me open my mind and make marks without thinking. Of course, when it comes to finishing the painting, I try to make sure the colors and shapes are somewhat balanced, which I am happy with here. To me, it sings a “Rustic Melody”!
Though my paintings are created intuitively, I’m often inspired by my environment. Right now, San Diego is steaming hot, humid and windy, which puts us in danger of wildfires, much scarier than earthquakes for us. A new fire broke out yesterday about 20 miles from where we live, today we woke up with a red tint to the smokey sky and thick ash all over everything. The fire season has only just begun.
I’ve uploaded “Rustic Melody” to my Redbubble shop, click here to view the 86 apparel and household items that are available in this design!
Needless to say, we will be staying indoors with the windows shut this Labor Day weekend, even though it is over 100 degrees and no, we don’t have air conditioning! I hope you are all safe, comfortable and enjoy the weekend!
There is such a completeness to your work that pulls the eye into the detail and then back to the total picture…love it!!

Hopefully you can sell enough paintings to buy yourself central air conditioning and a generator. ⛄

Lol! I sure wish that was the case, Mike, it’s brutal around here, might just go drive around in the car for a bit! I hope you are well and enjoying the holiday weekend!

Beautiful as always 🙂 I don`t know why, but I get sort of a tribal feel looking at it. Maybe it is something to do with the white on top of bright colors. It`s getting closer to autumn here, still ok temperature, but colder in the morning. I`ll try and send you some cold air from the north.

Thank you very much, Bird! Yes, I can get a tribal feel also, I think the colors represent earth and natural elements! Today is much cooler in San Diego, you must have worked some magic!

I love the way you define your beautiful paintings with the lovely words 💕

That is so nice of you to say, Sushmita! I am a visual person and not much of a writer, so I struggle with the right words sometimes!

Unbelievable!! You know very well that how to synchronise words with art. True harmony between them.💕❤️

When I first saw it I was reminded me of de Koonings Women – maybe it was the two circles at the top.

Wow, thank you, Graham, I’m a big fan of de Kooning’s work, I would love to spend some time in his head!

Love all the colors in your painting!
I hope for you that the wild fires don’t get any where close to you.

Thank you so much! The closest fire so far was about 20 miles away but you can imagine the air quality has been horrible. I was just outside noticing blue skies for the first time in weeks! We aren’t out of the woods yet, fire season goes through November here! 🤞🙏
