Bubblegum Pop

I don’t know why this 11″ x 14″ mixed media reminds me of a young girl’s room, from era of the 60s with a record player, she is playing the current pop star hit while dancing around her room. Do you remember those days?

Bubblegum pop was what they called the kind of pop music that kids liked back then, bands like The Turtles, The Monkees, The Archies, and The Cowsills. You know the songs, and we all sing along when we hear them, in the privacy of the car! 😉

Ah, nostalgia, isn’t it great? Not only the music, but I have always loved the fashions!

Fun fact, I chose to feature The Cowsills video above because they are actually friends of mine! Paul Cowsills’ wife was my boss over 20 years ago and we have been friends ever since. I’ve seen the band play a few times, and they are still active, I really like their new song Nuclear Winter. Here is their events page if you are curious!

      1. Right on! You can put me in that group – I didn’t know that, either – though I did watch that show in my youth. Thanks for sharing, Tiffany 💐

  1. Sweet pairing. I love the pop painting, and it’s homage to the record player. Haven’t heard the Cowsills in forever, so it was lovely to imagine the girl blowing a bubble and listening to a stack of 45’s. 💜🎶🦋

  2. Love this, Tiffany! 😍 Your description made me think of my youngest aunt’s room. She is less than ten years older than me; I remember being in awe of her lava lamp and groovy music. 😁
