“Cosmic Calico” is a 16″ x 20″ mixed media on canvas. I used cut up pieces of other paintings to collage into the shape of a cat. The photo doesn’t do it justice. You might recall the Odd Owl post from last week, and you may notice some similarities!
I created this piece to enter into a juried show called Raining Cats and Dogs. It was not selected. Yes, I am disappointed it wasn’t chosen, it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last, but I will always keep trying!
I really like the look on Cosmic Calico’s face. He’s a little smug, definitely an older and wiser feline, perhaps a bit mischievous in his youth? And I am sure a mouse never saw the next day after a meeting with this guy!

Thanks, Robin! It’s kinda funny, the juror of the art show is actually a meteorologist at one of our local news stations, so yeah, she doesn’t know anything about art! Their loss! I just entered the show because I wanted to support the cause, the proceeds of sales went to a local animal shelter. I will support them in other ways! ☺

Yes, this is a wise cat I`m sure, sneaking around at night, scaring other cats away by giving them “the look”. He looks sophisticated and royal and probably feels like the true king of his home (Even though his humans don`t know it).

Thank you, Kirt! Just knowing that my peers like it is good enough for me! If Cosmic Calico was a particular breed, I would think he is a descendant of a Maine Coon, they are the coolest!
