Scattered

Yes, those are stamps. Salvaged from one of my grandfather’s old garages when I was a kid. They had not been carefully stored, some were damaged by water and stuck together in an old envelope. Most are from the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s. The ones I checked had little to no value, especially in this condition, but I always saved them, for a project someday.

I suppose this is that “project”! I love all the colors and unique designs from all over the world. I’m a history aficionado, and when it involves travel, mystery, and art, well, I’m all over it! I can only imagine the stories and news that these stamps delivered to all kinds of people all over the world, probably by ship or train, maybe even by horse?

I still have many more stamps, some in rather good condition, so don’t be surprised if you see more stamps in unusual ways! And, I’d love to hear your suggestions, what would you do with a vintage stamp collection?

  1. At fist it looks like various currencies blowing around, but even with stamps, it makes a great visual commentary of valuations of most anything these days. Scattered nails it. If you have old stamps in really good condition, you should check their value if you haven’t already. Otherwise you might get a “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” painting out of some of them.

  2. I frickin LOVE that idea!!! Brilliant! I have enough to do something small like that, I’m running with that one, thank you! We stayed in an Airbnb in Joshua Tree and the host was a devout Bowie fan, the entire studio was decorated with the “Black Star” theme, even the headboard, it was awesome!
