I just learned of this Stapelia Gigantea, and now I have one!

September in Southern California was a mix of extreme heat and some pretty cold days which was a nice change!

I took the photo of the Stapelia above from my neighbor’s yard and then posted it on Facebook to see if anyone knew what it was, I had never seen it before. A bunch of people replied to tell me, including an old friend who I hadn’t seen in years. Long story short, he brought me some cuttings so I am excited to see if I can get them to bloom! Apparently, they are really stinky, (like rotting meat) so these will be planted away from the house! 😂

Don’t ask me why, but I love taking photos of old rusty things!

I’ve been wanting to snap some pics of the artwork in our little town of South Park, there are many more murals and cool graffiti, these are just a few that I enjoy seeing on my daily walks.

We had a fun overnight getaway to Palm Desert to visit my best friend and her husband who live in Oregon but they have a fancy golf timeshare in the desert every year. We spent hours chatting and swimming in the pools and sipping cocktails! Good friends are so important!🍹

I love Hibiscus!!! We don’t have any on our property, but many of our neighbors have them in a variety of kinds and colors!😍

We also got up to Idyllwild for a couple days, the weather was perfect for hiking and star gazing. A little break that my husband and I both needed to regroup and recharge! 🌟🎄🤩

The Idyllwild town center lights up at night!

October is here and I am excited to see what comes up! Not only is it my birthday month, but I anticipate a new job is on the horizon, and I have lots of other fun and exciting events on the calendar! Stay tuned to keep up and see what I am creating in the studio!🎨🎉

  1. What a gorgeous post, Tiffany! All your pix are awesome! The flowers are amazing, as is the Albert Einstein Elementary School; I’m sure the kids can’t wait to get to school every day! How cool is it to have friends with a fancy golf timeshare in the desert! I could use a couple of them. Enjoy October and good luck with your new job! 🤩

    1. Thanks a bunch Nancy! We are blessed to live within an hour of the mountains, deserts and beaches! And yes, very grateful for all of our friends and family and all the fun stuff that comes with them! 😉 I hope you are doing much better, I know it’s been a difficult time for you while healing after your surgery! 🤗

      1. You definitely are fortunate to live in a very beautiful part of the country with good friends and good times. Enjoy these wonderful fall days. I am doing much better, thanks for asking! I still have a way to go but my improvement has surprised me … quite a difference from the first couple of weeks home from the hospital when I thought I’d never be the same again. I still may not be the same but now I know everything is going to be ok. 😊🙏🏼

    1. Hi Judy!! Yes, that would make a lovely painting, but I doubt I could do it justice! How crazy, I have never seen that flower before, I guess it’s native to Africa, so I’m surprised it’s becoming popular here, I hope my cuttings take! ☺

Glad to hear you got a vacation and had the chance to spend time with your friend. And, yes, I agree, friends are important. They help us and teach us know everything about us and love us.

    Happy early birthday!
