“Under the Rug” is an original abstract painting in my sketchbook. Made with gouache, watercolor, and pen. My sketchbook is where all my secrets are stored, my emotions and feelings are expressed and then hidden. Similar to how people sweep the “stuff” under the rug, mine goes in the sketchbook. π

YOu never know what you will find under the rug. That is beautiful.

Nice! You seem to have a different style this year?

Thanks, Mike, I have no idea what my style is these days, I can do 5 paintings in one day and they will all be completely different! π€

Can you actually do 5 in one day?

Yep, usually at least 5 a day, I usually work on multiple paintings at the same time, lots of layers!

Sketchbook seems so much better than hid under a rug, plus youβll always have it to return to – powerful image, Tiffany! π

Thank you, Adan! Indeed, getting it out from under and onto paper is quite therapeutic! π

I went so long w/out even realizing the therapeutic value of my art to myself, lol! I was always just aiming for satisfying, pretty, beautiful and inspiring even ( at my best ) – little realizing the healing I was helping onto myself β₯οΈ And when folks feel that enough to want to have a work & also have for themselves – like double therapy! π It’s a wonderful activity we share with each other, and your work, Tiffany, is seamless into that π

Me too! I’ve been gravitating towards jewel tones lately! Maybe they are warm and it’s been so cold?!

I’ve never tried gouache. Is it thicker than acrylics?
LikeLiked by 1 person
It starts thick, but it is also water-soluble, so it can be very light depending on how much water you add! I love the vibrancy of the colors, I definitely recommend trying gouache!

Thanks for the information about gouache. I may give it a try in the future.

I like this one. It reminds me of something I would make; it’s similar to how my art looks at times.
