Grove Street

32” x 32” Acrylic on canvas

We live in a crazy cool, very eclectic small house. It’s over a hundred years old in a great little neighborhood in Southern California. Our landlord added on to the tiny house in the 1980’s. In addition to a little square footage, he also added some unique artistic details like these funky hand-cut and laid “stars” hidden all around the house.

It also has a great front porch with the perfect space for a large piece of art. I usually hang one of my stick contraptions, a handmade wreath or some sort of artistic project, I like to switch it up.

I wanted something new in the space and I decided to do a painting on canvas with outdoor paint, since the spot will get some direct sunlight in the afternoon. The only issue was finding a good sized canvas, for cheap!

That same day, I went for a walk in the neighborhood and I spotted this really nice, perfectly sized, previously painted canvas left out on the curb for free! It was perfect!

That’s how this piece started. I used only one color plus black and white, and I scratched the paint off some parts so the original olive colored painting peeks through in some parts. I call it “Grove Street” because that’s the name of our street, and it is visible to people walking by. The colors work really well with the house, and the size is perfect for the space!

I hope everyone is staying healthy, cool and creative, have a great rest of your week! 😊

I can totally see that! Those were the kind of video games I would play, remember the Oddessy game system? There was a car racing game that immediately came to my mind!

I’m getting a mirror, being viewed through a mirror, here.

I know I’m not supposed to notice, but I’m liking the floor tiles outside your door.

Thank you, Margaret! I used some Sherwin Williams acrylic latex paint samples that I picked up at a garage sale! I am always on the hunt for second-hand art supplies! 😉

I love a house with individuality (help me!! 🤣Spelling). Those tiles and details all around are so cool. I believe in coincidences, and I think there was a reason for you to find that canvas. Now you could paint one of those beautiful pictures of yours for people walking by to enjoy. The painting lit up the space. I really like your front porch. In my imaginative dream house, I have one too.

It is very rare to find an affordable home with some fun and individuality in our neighborhood, we are blessed! There are lots of artists and musicians here, and it still has a cool hippy vibe, you would fit right in! 😊✌

It’s SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Love how the horizontals complement the siding! Love the colors! Love how the combination of theabove-center horizontal and diagonal lead the viewer’s eye right to the door! WOW!! And the house, with its “sprinkling” of stars, is lovely. 👏👏👏👏👏

I love the piece very lovely Tiffany. I also like your house it is adorable. I love the way you have the outside and it looks perfect with the painting. I love the stars in the house too. You found a super cool home. I love it. I wish I had a cool artist friend living next door. We are slowly watching all the people who lived here die. It feels more like a retirement community. We liked it because it is about 1.4 acres and it is in a cul de sac. I do like the privacy of the backyard where deer, birds, bunnies fox and even wild turkeys visit. Sending you gold stars ⭐️ to throw on the ceiling of your lovely home. They came from the fairies which means that they will be real stars at night. You can wish upon them too. Love you sweet lady. ❤️🤗🦋🙏🧚‍♂️🧚🏻🧚‍♀️

You are so very welcome my dear Tiffany. Your house is very special. I just fell in love with the porch, the tiles, the teal on the front porch so special. The fairy stars are very special. I am glad you liked them. Your work is so lovely Tiffany. So many layers. Beautiful. In December of 2021, rattle.com will be accepting media art to be shown on their site for poets to write about that month. I think it would be a great place for you to submit. They do a really cool write up of the artist. It would be an excellent place for you to show your stuff. You and the magazine pick a poem to win. The painting for December is there now. Lots of publicity for the artist. Take a look. Love you sweetie. ❤️🤗😘🧚‍♂️🧚🏻
