Waves of Consciousness

20″ x 16″ Acrylic on canvas

It might look complex, but “Waves of Consciousness” was completed rather quickly and it was really simple! I primed it with gesso, then randomly dropped blobs of paint all over. To add the texture, I used a beaded chain and a comb to drag the paint around to form the “waves”.

There are a lot of spaces to wonder and get lost here, so many possibilities! It mostly makes me think of water, maybe under a pier or boardwalk? I’d be curious to hear what you see!

Thanks! It’s actually one of my favorite tools because it was literally my Dad’s old comb, he passed away over 25 years ago, so it’s my way of connecting with him in my artwork!

I really like the textured scrape. It makes your eyes go there first, then you observe the movement around it. Great job!
