I just had to share a little bit about the last leg of our vacation in the Santa Ynez valley, it was glorious! My cousin Krista has a house in Los Alamos so we stay with her and her husband every chance we get. It’s a tiny but thriving town about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, basically wine country.
I could go on and on promoting the town and it’s wonderful people, restaurants, and wines, but this is supposed to be a blog about art, so I am trying to keep this brief! It just so happens that my cousin is the editor of Edible Santa Barbara, so she kinda knows everyone and everything about food and wine in the region, and yeah, we get hooked up!
This particular visit was no exception. We were invited to join them for an exclusive polo & dinner event at Piocho Ranch in Happy Canyon. It was such a treat to watch the polo match right on the field, be served wine, cocktails and the fanciest Hor D’oeuvres and mingle with the rich and famous!

I must give a shout out to the sponsors Stick and Ball, One & Only Mandarina, La Herradura Polo, Inspirato, Casa Dragones, Piocho Vineyards, and dinner was catered by Chef Jake & Amy Francis of Valley Piggery, everything was exceptional! And I must give a special thank you to Elizabeth Goodwin Welborn for extending us the invitation at the last moment!
