Alligator

12″ x 12″ Acrylic on canvas

Getting back to music inspiration, I painted this 12″ x 12″ acrylic on canvas a few months ago. It’s rather simple, just a few colors, nothing complicated really. But, the image takes my imagination right to one of my most favorite albums of all time, “Alligator” by The National.

Released in 2005, Alligator is a great introduction to anyone who hasn’t already discovered The National. They can generally be described as an Indie, post-punk, but I think they are in a class all to themselves. I’m personally impressed with the musical genius of the band, oh, and I kind of have a little crush on Matt Berninger, I love his voice!!

I hope you enjoy this scheduled post while I am out exploring the coast of Northern California on vacation! I apologize for not being very responsive while taking a break from everything! I will resume my normal commenting and liking behavior next week!

Enjoy your trip, Tiffany – it’s so good to get away sometimes! And I’ve never been to Northern California, but our son and youngest girl have and love it! Your image is simple yet deceptively so, with the nuances of green slashes across the black, that itself appearing to have been creased and wrinkled (by paint dripping?) And that’s not counting the floating circles and glow in the dark (literally) deep blue. Very nice! 😊

I like the painting. I do not know The National. I listened to bits of each song no Alligator. Lit Up was the only song I recognized, but I don’t know where I heard it before. Probably one station that played a lot of newer rock before it got turned into a Rancheros station. Now we mostly have oldie stations. I have to find newer music other places.

It seems like people either love em or hate The National, not many in the middle, so I’m glad you gave them a chance! I know what you mean about finding new music, I like bandcamp.com for exploring new bands!
