This one almost landed in the recycle pile. But I think I like it now. Wasn’t sure how to salvage it, but I embraced what I saw, a rocks glass, behind a martini glass, sitting on a bar top. And so it was.
No song or band reference this time, sorry! But feel free to express what you see, did I miss a great opportunity to title this differently?
I think the painting would work really well without the “rocks glass” beyond the outside edges of the martini glass. Or maybe darkened so the beige lines are barely visible outside the edges of the martini glass. The rocks glass as seen illuminated through the martini glass works well in the flute opening out into a celebration of bubbles bursting into colorful displays of firework-like stars that together create a pleasing image. The “U” shapes of the rocks glass out side the edges of the martini glass are distracting and keep pulling my eyes back to the bar.
I know exactly what you are saying Tim, I immediately regretted the yellow lines, aka rocks glass, but it was the second layer, and there was nothing I could do about it. Really almost scrapped it. But, adding the pink bubbles seemed to take it to another level. It’s one of those love it, or hate it paintings!
