Meet Oliver and Remi!

It actually happened; we have adopted not one, but two kittens!!!

When my friend sent me a picture of a cute calico kitten, she was still just a “barn cat” her boyfriend found living in a shed in freezing Indiana. My friend was trying to convince him to rescue her and take her back to California for me. I said yes, not really thinking it would happen. But it did, and he even caught one of her brothers!

He spent a couple of weeks working with them to get used to people and then drove across the country with them in a crate; it took 4 days. After that, they kept them for a week and took them to the vet. They had ear mites, but were otherwise healthy kittens, around 6 to 9 months old. The girl is smaller because she had to compete with her 4 brothers for food. They are both great hunters, and he said they caught a snake, a squirrel, birds, and a lot of rats. 😬

We picked them up Saturday night, and they are super adorable, sweet, and affectionate despite their wild past. After much debate, I think the names Oliver and Remi are going to stick!

My husband and I are thrilled to add these two to our family and welcome them with love. Let the kitten adventures begin! 😂❤

  1. What a great story. It’s similar to Silver, Loki, and Marble, who were found huddled together in the middle of the road at night with 6-foot snow drifts flanking the road. The rescuer only had to drive from northern NM to deliver them. That was super sweet of your friend’s boyfriend to rescue them and drive them to CA. You are going to really enjoy having the pair of kitties.

  2. We are indeed soul sisters! You know I just got two black kittens about a month ago! Love them — mom was an outdoor cat and a friend of mine had taken her in. She had two litters — one of the first litter went to my daughter in law, one from the last one to her and two to me! (Mom has since been fixed). They are the inspiration for more art! You go girl!!!
