Boxes

5/7” Mixed media

I have piles of boxes filled with my mom’s things all lined up in my hallway, waiting for me to sort. It makes me cringe to even think about getting rid of her things, but she can’t use them anymore.

Her body is alive, it’s just her brain that doesn’t work anymore. I find comfort in knowing that she is in a safe place getting the care that she needs.

Meanwhile, I really miss our daily conversations and emails. She has been my best friend, now I just have boxes. Dementia sucks. 😔

That’s terrible you’re having to watch your mother gradually slip away mentally. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be for you.

It’s a difficult time for sure, thanks Jeff! Hey, I’m actually going to Palm Desert today, it’s supposed to be fairly comfortable! ☺

Yes, it’s supposed to be in the upper 80s. Our high yesterday was 97, the first day below 100 in three months!

I’m sorry you are going through this Tiffany. When my grandmother had dementia she couldn’t even remember me or my name. Then when I saw how badly her own son, my uncle treated her I was so angry. I was 13 at the time and couldn’t do anything about it. I still cry and miss her so much. She was the only soul on this earth that loved me and protected me. I prayed for you and I’m here if you need to talk.

I really like your boxes painting. Cool arrangement of colors. Have a nice weekend!

When I went through my dental training at the Collage of Dental Surgery, I learned that aluminum stores it’s self in the brain and causes dementia and other problems. Sadly they are putting aluminum in our foods and deodorant. Since then I stopped buying deodorant and stopped getting foods from my local market that contain sodium aluminum.

You don’t have to take my word for it tho. Check it out for yourself.

There are so many dangers to our well being, aluminum is just one, and yes, we all need to research and be aware of all the evils lurking in our homes!

Thanks Gigi, I didn’t mean to call a pity party, I guess I needed to vent a little!

This is the place to vent. My husband’s parents were like that. Others understand what it’s like, in their own way and from their own experience. It’s terrible and hard. Sending lots of hugs your way, to your mom too.

I found it relatively easy to sort and reallocate the things my parents left behind but I have had a very difficult time downsizing my own stuff in an effort to spare my children that exercise.
