Breathe

12/18” Acrylic on wood

It’s been a long time since I’ve painted on anything outside of my sketchbooks. I’m not buying more canvas right now, partially because I’m broke, but more because I have no space to store any more canvases!

Anyway, “Breathe” is painted on an old 12/18” wood cutting board. I love to upcycle items that would have ended up in the landfill and turn them into art!

Today is July 7th, which means it’s been exactly 27 years since my Dad passed away. You would think that 27 years is a long time and I wouldn’t miss him as much, but no, I do. Everyday. ❤

    I love this painting! A tip that you may already know. Use cardboard (Gesso on both sides) this makes a great support for oils, acrylics, pastels, and all sorts of other mediium.

      Great tip Janet! I have to admit that I often forget the Gesso, I usually just fly into a painting too excited to wait, but it certainly makes a difference in the surface! Thank you so much my friend! ☺

        I find if I gesso several pieces of cardboard, back and front….as a warming up process…it works for me. Then when I want to work on something I am ready..X

          I like the idea of originals, I do sometimes buy stuff from the US and have it shipped to a warehouse in LA. They then post it over here to me. But it’s still a pita ‘cos you’d have to wrap it.
          I was chatting to a promoter and he reckoned limited edition prints are the way to go, so you’d retain the intellectual rights. I quite liked Pixels, the prices are USD but they say they manudacture in the UK, so I’d avoid import duty.
