Diva

I painted this in March 2018, I didn’t really like it, stuck in the pile and forgot about it. After taking a second look, it is sort of growing on me. Even if you don’t see the dog with a flower for a nose, (could it be anything else??) I really like the colors and the feel of it. I named it Diva because that’s my best friends dog name and it kind of looks like her expression. 

I’ve always been a fan of surrealism but haven’t really attempted it in my own art. Since I paint intuitively, I never know what will happen when I start a painting, so it’s rare for my work to be figurative. But then again, I am always experimenting with styles and processes, I find it liberating to be diverse!

    Yes, I saw the dog, but also I saw some sort of frozen cave or lake or maybe an atmospheric and distant H.P. Lovecraft environment. Endless possibilities of this marvelous piece.

    My 1st take was a sci-fi cave w/a floating flower like energy spot, lol! But slowly started seeing a face, and now definitely see a very loving cute dog. And esp love the colors, the sense of depth and flow in what still looks like an amazing vaulted ice room somewhere very neat, Tiffany! I again just can’t help feeling this would also make a great book cover 😊

    I am so glad you are finally appreciating this piece. I totally see the dog, which is probably why I am drawn to it. But the colors are also soothing and I love the movement of it. I really like your work!!!
