I’ve always been messy. My mom wouldn’t let me play with my friends until my room was clean, so my best friend Michelle would come over and do it for me so we could go out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a total slob, but I’ve always felt more comfortable among a little bit of chaos.
This is true of my studio even today. I know exactly where everything is, it’s always within reach, and the space feels relaxed, where my creativity thrives. I’ve seen other artists studios where everything is organized and neat, clean and proper. I would never be able to work like that!
But, a couple times a year I straighten out my space, throw out the mostly empty paint tubes, pile all my brushes and tools in their respective holders, try to stack paintings by size, and I like to switch up the pieces I hang in the studio for my inspiration and viewing pleasure.
Yesterday was the day I cleaned up and I found some forgotten treasures that I will be posting between now and the end of the year, I hope you enjoy!
Nice and messy. My mom just let me get tired of our own mess. I’d eventually clean it up.

Thanks, Tim! Yeah, it gets to a certain point, then I have to tidy up, but really, a little messy is just right!

My desk and other things are always in disarray. Then I tidy up and can’t find anything.

I’ve had to vacate my painting space for guests over the last week or so. It’s good to see what you’ve accumulated over the year – and look what you’ve found! I didn’t find anything like that. Happy New Year, Tiffany.
