TVC15

“TVC15″ 12″ x 16” Acrylic on canvas

If you didn’t know, I am a HUGE fan of David Bowie, and I just realized that I only have a few paintings inspired by him. I’m not sure what’s up with that, but here’s a new one.

TVC15 is one of my favorite songs on David Bowie’s album ‘Station to Station’ released in 1976, super catchy. The story goes that Iggy Pop inspired Bowie to write TVC15 after a hallucinogenic drug induced experience at his home. Apparently Iggy thought that the TV was swallowing his girlfriend! Yep, drugs will do that to you.

So, after listening to the album on vinyl, yes, I still have most of my original Bowie albums on vinyl, this painting totally screams TVC15! If you really open your mind, you don’t even need drugs to see some crazy stuff! What do you see?

    I see a kitty hidden in your painting. Fun song. What’s interesting with drugs is that I’ve been reading about small amounts of LSD is thought to be helpful for creativity and productivity. The closest thing I’ve done to hallucinatory substances were a few flaming shots of tequila as a tiny part of my misspent youth. I’ve never be a drinker, smoker or drug user.

    I’m looking for a kitty here Tim, not finding it yet! Maybe a shot of flaming tequila will help me find it! Yeah, I dabbled and even tried LSD, that was a long time ago. I can say it certainly opened my mind, but I’m glad I don’t need that influence anymore, I have plenty of creativity without it!

    Wonderful work, Tiffany ~ love how the lime green pops off the black structural shapes! I can imagine a locomotive engine barreling along tracks through a city, shaking the skyscrapers as it passes.

    I see a searchlight being managed by a robot……true story….would be interesting to know what a shrink would think of that. Great painting…love it!

    Ok, I’ll give a stab, no drugs needed (have enough left swishing round from my surgery, lol!) – an early Jetsons’ robotic maid cleaning up after Fred Flintstone stumbled onto the wrong set and did an awful Tarzan impersonation 😊 No? That’s ok. I still like it – knowing Bowie & Iggie inspired it is just icing, lol! 😊

      That is so funny you mentioned the Jetsons, I too totally saw that at first too!! I love the Flinstones and Tarzan reference too, LOL, you are right there with me Adan, thank you for the belly laugh this morning! And, I hope you are feeling better!
