June 2025 was full of ups and downs, and lots of beautiful flowers! Our garden is producing a good amount of tomatoes, beans, tomatillos, figs, peppers, herbs and roses. Unfortunately, rats have eaten most of the tomatoes and a lot of beans.😠 We’ve set up humane traps and are catching them left and right, we rehome them in the canyon and wish them good luck!

I’m very sad to report that my friend, and friend to the whole neighborhood, Peanut the sweetest squirrel, was killed by a speeding car in front of our house yesterday. I’m devastated.

And just before I hit publish, I saw the headline. Instead of celebrating America this July, I can only cry for democracy. There are no words, just a sickness in the pit of my being. 😔
These are beautiful.

What a beautiful post, Tiffany. The bread looks delicious. I love the butterfly and Mr. Squirrelly.

Thanks Tim, yep, I’m into making sourdough now, I even made brownies with the sourdough starter last night, this might be a problem!😂

That’s a swell looking loaf of bread

Thanks Matt, the trick is to slice it up and then freeze it, so I don’t eat the whole thing in one sitting!😂

Gorgeous plants and fabulous-looking bread! I bet your whole house smells amazing. Homemade bread is my weakness.
Poor little Peanut. RIP

My emotions are decidedly mixed after reading this post, Tiffany. Your photos are beautiful, as always, and your sourdough loaf looks quite impressive. But I’m terribly sad about Peanut (goddamned speedy drivers!), as well as the atrocious budget pill just passed by our corrupt GOP-controlled Senate (which I’m assuming is the last-minute headline you referenced).

Thanks Jeff, I have resigned to not watch any more news, it’s not worth the extra anxiety. I have lots of distractions, art, baking, gardening, and MUSIC!😊

Your photos are gorgeous. I’m so sorry about Peanut! Yikes! And yes, we are sad… 😢 for the collective, and our structural integrity.

Thanks Ka, I keep looking for Peanut, hoping that it really wasn’t her, but it was.😔 Yes, I try to stay distracted from all the sad stuff, I love my garden!

It’s great fun isn’t it! You do a fabulous job! I saw a gorgeous rainbow a little bit ago while driving, but it was gone by the time I had a chance to pull over. Thrilled to see it! 🌈😍

RIP Peanut.
When I first read this I read, “We’ve set up human traps…and are releasing them in the canyon.” I liked that. Being released in a canyon is a good thing. Your plants and photos are beautiful.

OMG, that is too funny!😂😂😂 You’re right, I’m pretty happy hanging out in a canyon, I hope the rats/mice find a good home!

If they don’t, they’ll come back. 😉

Hard to pick a favorite photo here.
But I’m sorry about Peanut. Cars are dangerous in so many ways, and humans are so careless with them.
And as to our government…(K)

Thank you, I could do with less humans, politics, and cars, and more nature and flowers!😊

I have a soft spot for red dragonflies. And the lighting on your disco spider plant is stunning.

Thank you Laura! I walk by a pond with a waterfall everyday on my walk and look for that dragonfly, he’s always there and stunning! I also really liked that disco spider photo!😊

You have such neat plants. I like that Stapelia plant. Is that a cistus with the white flower and bee?

Thank you so much! I don’t have anywhere close to the varieties you have, but I do have some cool ones! The big white ones (I call egg flowers) are actually Matilija poppies, they are all over our neighborhood! I only got the one star flower so far, but those are really cool plants!😊

So many great photos – love the book art by your aunt! Good luck to the rehomed rats, Linda xx

Thank you so much, Linda! Yeah, I really want to try the book page folding thing, she made a few of them, all different patterns, a great way to repurpose old books! I’ve lost count of how many rats/mice, we caught 8 mice just yesterday! 😬

Understandable, with delicious things. I’m one of those people who actually loves their sourdough most when it’s noticeably sour. 😋😋😋😋
