Native Ambient

6/9” Acrylic on paper

I wish this piece was on a large canvas, I really like the composition, but it’s actually in my small sketchbook. Luckily you can buy prints and canvas reproductions in any size you want from my Pixel Shop!

I’m unable to paint on new canvas for a while, space is a big challenge. I already have hundreds, maybe thousands of paintings stored throughout the house. It’s also become apparent that we will probably have to move within the next year (?) and I don’t know what to do with all these paintings! Throw them in the trash??? That would break my heart. Maybe I can donate some? Hopefully I can sell a few. 😊🙏

  1. Yep. Paintings lying around? Sometimes (not often) I’m glad I didn’t start until late in life. People say, “Paint over them!” They have NO idea. I see people’s paintings in thrift stores. At first that seemed sad but now I’m OK with it. After having had the chance to paint for almost 20 years now I feel that — for me — painting, the activity, is the important part. Whatever happens later isn’t my problem.

    1. Thank you Martha, yes, it’s really about my process and getting it “out,” the outcome isn’t always pretty, I only share the ones that I think people might like to see! Even though I’ve only been painting daily for 7-8 years, there’s a lot of them!😉

  2. I gave quite a few paintings to thrift stores when we moved. Much to my surprise I got several emails from people who bought them, having gone to the trouble to research me since the only info associated with me was my signature. I was touched and gratified and felt my work had been appreciated. That plus knowing the charity made a little money made me feel good about letting them go.

    1. That is so cool that they tracked you down! I’ve sold a couple pieces at auction, I always hoped whoever bought them would contact me, never did! I will definitely consider some donations, thanks for making me feel better about it!😊

  3. I do love this one. And if you’re serious about getting rid of some of your beautiful work, when you move. Animal shelters would love to use them for fund raising. I understand about running out of room. Do you do art fairs, like art in the park, etc.? You do great work, I hope you can sell a lot of them before the move.

    1. Thanks Gigi, that’s a great idea about animal shelters, I will look into that for certain! I really don’t like doing the big art fairs, it’s so grueling for an introvert, but I try to do them occasionally, it’s great exposure, and a lot of work!

      1. Oh, that must take a toll if you’re an introvert. So many people. It must take you a week to get over it. Your work is so wonderful but if it’s too hard to go to the big art fairs I totally understand. Don’t ever throw anything away. OMG
