Delicata

9/12” Mixed media on paper

Even though we’ve seen nothing but “June Gloom” in San Diego, it is technically Summer time. Summer makes me think of heat, humidity, bugs, and tourist, but also good things like the beach, BBQ’s, camping and cooking outdoors.

I went looking for a photo on my old cooking blog of delicata squash, I didn’t find the photo I wanted, but I found these recipes, there’s some good ones there!

I hope your summer is off to a great start! Eat, play and enjoy your friends and family!☀🌞🕶️

Thanks so much for checking it out, Janet! It’s only a matter of time before we are sweltering like the rest of the world, I’m enjoying the mild weather while I can! 😉

I always think of June as yellow because it’s usually dry out here in June. Delicata looks very June to me.

You’re right Tim, gone are most of our pretty wildflowers, things are just dry and yellow and brown, which can be pretty too!

Laurie gets after me about photographing dead, dried-up flowers and plants.

I do it too, just a part of the cycle, each one matters 😉

Well, no June gloom here in the Coachella Valley, where it reached a blistering 115 degrees on Friday & Saturday! The disparity in temperatures between the Southern California coast and the deserts this time of year is truly astonishing.

Your painting “Delicata” makes me think of an delectable antipasto tray!

Wow Jeff, that really is insanely different for being less than 150 miles away, but yes, being close to the ocean helps a lot! Stay hydrated and in the AC, summer is just starting!🔥

Thanks Michele! Yes, I have been blogging since 2007, but the cooking one is the only other one still available, some great recipes there! 😉

haha, “technically summer” made me chuckle — same situation here, June so far has had a lot of rain with temperatures mostly around 10 to 14 C. What that all about?

I think we should enjoy it while we can Graham, the rest of the world is scorching hot, I am afraid! 🔥

Summer is also a time when, if you just do nothing, it feels OK.
