It’s been a blessing and a curse spending time with my mom who is battling dementia. Her memories are fading, she has a hard time remembering who people are. She starts to tell me a story with “back in the day” and then she forgets what she wanted to tell me. She gets so frustrated. Her memories are scattered, loose and drifting, that’s what this painting is to me.
Excellent piece. Sorry to hear of your mom’s suffering. It really is frustrating to forget what you wanted to say about back in the day.

Thanks Tim, lots of frustration, but we take it one minute at at time!

Alzheimer’s and all forms of dementia are so terrible for everyone concerned. My heart goes out to you, your mother and your family. This painting perfectly represents the confusion and scattered thoughts your mother is experiencing.

Thanks Jeff, it is all happening really fast in our situation, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can in a crash course of reality!

The art is great, but I am sorry to hear about your mother. The most difficult part is that it ogoes on and off, right. Sometimes they do remember, and then, I think they realise they’re losing it… In some cases they try to compensate, but I still think the worst is that there are momnets when they’re conscious.
Sorry about that. It takes its toll on the family, but as they took care of us when we were little, it’s up to us now to take care of them.

Yes, you nailed it, Brian. The times that break my heart the most is when she is aware and terrified of what is going on. She was always in charge of everything!

Yeah. They were in charge. Now it’s up to us to… ease things up… Never easy.

Your painting says what your mom cannot. A moving piece, Tiffany. Sending you strength as you move through this with your mom. 🌻

Thank you Michele! I need all the strength I can get, I am strong, but it’s taking a toll on me, this and many other things. One day at a time! ❤

One day at a time, yes. Your strength and talent shine. There are life situations that test our limits. You’re very welcome. ❤

You have captured the disconnect of the mind so beautifully in this painting. . AS difficult as it is for the person experiencing it, I believe it is more distressing and definitely more frustrating for the family. Hang in there:)

I know how you feel Tiffany. Before my grandmother passed away she couldn’t remember who I was. It was very disheartening to me . She loved me raised and protected me like no other. I miss her sometimes.
You are in my prayers.
Try to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
