I keep meeting people with an allergy to foods and spices in the Nightshade family. I had never even heard of this until I started working in the spice store, now, I hear about it almost every day.
If you don’t know, the nightshades are eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, chilis, peppers, and about 3,000 other herbs and plants. These are some of my basic food staples and I would have a really difficult time avoiding them!
Anyway, I’m calling this painting “Nightshade” because the colors remind me of eggplant, potato, and orange chilis or tomatoes! The design was created by moving acrylic paint around with an old gift card, I love how it creates a sort of fractal effect!
I hope you’re having a great weekend and enjoying some tasty good food! 🍆🍅 🌶
We just had a tomato pie and salad for dinner

I’m so happy I have no veggie allergy. I am allergic to bees, dog hair, and can’t drink milk.

Ah, yes, I too am allergic to environmental elements, mostly dust, but thank goodness no real food allergies!

Great choice for a name. My friend who has mast cell disease can’t eat any nightshades.

Apparently, it is a very common thing. I am always suggesting spice blends that people can use, luckily there are many options for them! ☺

I will mourn the loss of nightshades from my diet for the rest of my days, but I do love your painting. 😍

Love the purple and orange! Yeah, a lot of people are allergic to the nightshades. And the gluten too. Check out Dr. Stephen Gundry’s book online called “The Plant Paradox” I’ve been sick for years and couldn’t figure it out. Not sick anymore since follow the Dr’s advise in his book! Feel better now.

Thank you! I have heard of his book, and that’s great that you were able to figure out what triggers you, what we put in our bodies can make a huge difference in how we feel! ☺

Well acquainted with nightshade; I can’t eat eggplant or chilis.
This is gorgeous. Love the purples. It would make a fab scarf!

Thank you, Nancy! So sorry to hear that, I could live with eggplant, but not chilis! Yes, I agree, a scarf would be beautiful, I actually just bought the tote bag with this one, and I’m thinking about getting the blanket! 😉

Thanks, Tiffany. It’s just something we become accustomed to. My sister is the same way and it’s no big deal anymore except we have to be careful when at restaurants. My mister loves both eggplant and chilis! We manage 😊
Enjoy your gorgeous tote!

Your painting is gorgeous. It reminds me of cubist stuff which is my favorite. Plus I love the colors. Nightshades are something I grew up with, and I wouldn’t want to avoid them either but I know a lot of people have had allergies and sensitives to lectins and also this family of crops.
