You Can’t Wash It Away

Painting is extremely personal to me. It is how I express myself and my feelings. Often as a form of therapy.

Not all of my thoughts and feelings are positive and happy, some are deeply rooted and painful. I suppose that is why I hesitate sharing some paintings and explaining what they mean to me. This is one of those.

As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I’ve always carried the pain with me silently. Therapy and time help, but it never goes away, you can’t wash it away.

However, it is possible to heal, maybe even love and trust again. Artistic expression or art therapy can be a wonderful outlet and means of healing. I encourage everyone to seek a source of artistic expression, for therapy or just for pleasure.

“Art is not always about pretty things. It’s about who we are, what happened to us, and how our lives are affected.” Elizabeth Broun

Auld Lang Syne

This is my last post of 2018. Since there’s still a few hours left, it’s probably not my last painting of the year. I’m going to take advantage of some time in the studio and reflect, renew and make some plans for the new year!

I’m excited to take my art business to the next level and really put myself out there, improve my website and get more connected with my art community!

I want to wish you all a happy healthy and inspired new year! ❤️

Raptor

I’ve always had a fondness for the great owl. So majestic and grand, yet stoic and humble.

This is the second painting that somewhat resembles an owl, the first one recently sold, it never even made it to the web site!

Art Show Success!

Wow. I’m overwhelmed by the love and support from my friends, family and the awesome art community of North Park and South Park! My debut art show exceeded all of my expectations.

Caffe Calabria in North Park, San Diego, was the perfect host! The venue was exceptional, given it’s still undergoing renovations, they went out of their way to make the show a success! I highly recommend them, not only for their exceptional pizza, full bar, great service, beautiful setting, all around awesome!!

Everyone had a great time, my partner and I both sold some pieces, but more important, we connected with the community, we shared art.

Thank you for supporting the arts and the local art community, your love and acceptance! 🙏❤️

Blue In Green

This is part of a small series I just completed. A little different than my “normal” in that the colors are simple, clean and defined. I like the way they stand out on the plain white background.
