May Favorite Photos

Most of my favorite photos from May were taken on the flourishing farm of San Diego Seed Company who graciously gave me a tour earlier this month. It’s been a long time since I’ve been there because of the pandemic, so it was great to see how much the farm has grown! Popular for their certified organic, regionally adapted seeds, the women owned business has grown exponentially over the last year!

I was pleased to visit while a recent crop of flowers were in bloom. I usually visit when it’s full of vegetables, which they had plenty of, I just took a lot of photos of the flowers this visit! They also have over 30 chickens, and 2 farm cats that crave affection when they aren’t hunting down rodents!

It’s hard to believe June is just around the corner, and tomorrow is Memorial Day here in the US. It’s a special day to remember our service men and women who lost their lives fighting for our freedom and democracy, and to honor all those that have and do serve our country. ‘Thank you’ doesn’t seem to say enough.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend! 🌞🌼🐝🎨

  1. Wow, such beautiful and colourful photos! I am glad to hear you had a lovely trip to the flourishing farm of San Diego Seed Company, it sounds like a great place to visit for anyone interested in growing vegetables and flowers. I had to see what their website looked like and was surprised to see they sell rare seeds too. Never even heard of Black Nebula Carrots! They are so purple! Thanks for sharing and have a nice day. 3. You flower photography is a wonderful way to begin my week. I just went on the San Diego Seek Company website – what a wonderful place. β€œOur mission is to provide Southern California with organic local seeds that have been acclimated to the range of microclimates we have so that growers can be as successful as possible.” I have been reading about people becoming more involved in growing food. Vancouver’s food strategy includes – β€œHaving more opportunities to grow our own food and having a local food market within walking or cycling distance.

    1. YES! I am all for growing and supporting locally grown food! I wonder if you are familiar with Edible Vancouver magazine? My cousin is the editor of Edible Santa Barbara and they are really passionate about eating locally and sustainability, so I try to promote it as well, it feels good to support local farmers too!😊

  4. Ikr, May flew by!! I feel like I blinked and it’s now June 😜 These blooms are spectacular 😍 I love walking around the farm and spying whatever my eye gets pulled to. So much inspiration in these colors. I painted today a vision I’ve been having a lot that relates perfectly to my book and matches it’s cover. Will be sharing it soon….very flower and eye related πŸ˜‰ Thank you for sharing your sights and yes, enjoy this long weekend πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–πŸŒΈπŸŒ»πŸŒΊπŸ΅

  5. JUNE! Shocking! I feel like I’m still trying to figure out how to survive the fall of 2020! 😳 Time has been soooooo weird. But this post is EXQUISITE. A seed farm!! It looks luscious – what a special place. It must be inspiring, esp for the colors.
Memorial Day, so meaningful. I remember when I was a kid – stopping and standing still for a church bells and sirens at noon on May 30th – a moment of solemnity for those who gave their lives. πŸ₯°

    1. So glad you enjoyed this collection, Joni! πŸ₯° I think the orangeish flower is one of the blooming succulents near my house, I think that is the only photo I didn’t take on the farm! πŸ˜‰πŸ’πŸ₯°
