Japanese Friendship Garden

As part of my birthday celebration month, my husband and I visited the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, it was so cool!

The Japanese Friendship Garden (JFG) is an expression of friendship between San Diego and its sister city, Yokohama. Twelve acres of winding pathways, the grounds are designed around many water features filled with colorful koi and water lilies. There is a bonsai garden, statues and sculptures are scattered about lovely meditation areas. We also really enjoyed the Maneki Neko beckoning cats exhibition on display through November 2020.

It was a lovely peaceful way to spend the day with my love! I hope you enjoy the photos!

A peaceful koi pond, one of many!

  1. Great pictures! I first visited the Japanese Garden @ Balboa Park in 2015, returned in autumn 2018. It is a lovely place to visit, and I was impressed with the attention and care staff gives the plants. I;ve visited many gardens throughout the world and this one will age beautifully.

          1. Well you have a real eye for photography. I really love photography as well but just literally ran out of my useable photography. I really enjoyed this post. I am glad you also are blessed with a loving partner. I feel so badly for people all alone right now. Sending you lots of love, blessings and some little hugs from the fairies that live here. Love you bunches. 🤗💕❤️🦋Joni

  3. Thanks for the nice pictures! I just stumbled across your blog post. The weather here in Germany is quite grey these days – so it was a pleasure to see some sunny Japanese garden impressions! 🙂
