Wish You Were Here

16″ x 20″ Mixed media on canvas

Did you immediately think about the song by Pink Floyd when you saw this title? Over-played, but admittedly, one of my favorite songs! It will always mean something to me.

I have to confess this painting was supposed to be something else. It was originally the “All-Yellow” painting in my color series. But sure enough, whenever I set out to paint something specific, I get too fixated, I over work it and I’m never happy with the outcome. So, it became something else.

There is a lot of yellow paint under those colors, it is thick, but it adds to the complexity of the piece. Grief is complex. It is different for everyone, and it will be a different process for different losses in life. That’s all I’m going to say on the subject. We move on. We will be okay.

Keep your smile on! : )

  1. That’s one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs too. Love the lyrics, especially this line:

“Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?”

  2. Classic song, I feel tje same. Always need to turn that one up🎶 I like the way the emotions your painting displays are expressed here and yes I feel the longing. Perhaps because I’m separated from my ❤ and missing him. Good stuff sister👏
